Futuristic electric trucks with futuristic tent and camper setups, touting the future of mobility and the future of camping and overlanding. Stop, stop, stop! We can’t take any more of this tantalizing coolness. Just kidding; there’s always room for more. We introduce the Alpha Wolf+Cloudbreak.
The outdoorsy combination consists of an in-bed Heimplanet Cloudbreak Geodesic Tent (a sleek, sophisticated inflatable shelter) affixed to the bed of the modern-but-retro-looking Alpha Wolf electric truck. What do you think? Can you envision this in a neighboring camp site? Or have companies gone off the proverbial deep end in attempting to reinvent camping, a hobby that’s best left rustic and rugged? You literally must imagine the combo, because as best we can tell, it’s still very much hypothetical, based on these rendered photos.
The tent itself, however, is real, and you don’t need to be concerned about those large, bulky tent poles. The whole structure blows up, so its construction more closely resembles that of a bounce house than a rigid structure. Germany-based Heimplanet, the company that makes the tent, manufacturers other free-standing inflatable tents and some other adventure gear. The company prides itself in sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The name of the company derives from heimat, a German word that, according to the company’s website, “describes the place you feel at home, the place where you belong, the place you are dedicated to, the place that makes you feel like it’s all going to be all right somehow, no matter what. We liked the idea of taking that feeling with us while traveling our planet.”
The single-cab Alpha Wolf and extended-cab Alpha Wolf+ electric trucks, to be manufactured by Southern California-based Alpha Motor Corporation, join the company’s electric lineup that also includes the ACE Coupe, ACE Performance Coupe, and JAX CUV. They can be reserved now—although it doesn’t appear that the newly revealed Wolf+Cloudbreak can be reserved quite yet.
Will this collaboration between Alpha and Heimplanet lead to a better outdoor experience? Obviously, the combination has to exist before we can determine anything. For now, we’ll enjoy the thought of it.
